I recently returned from a trip to Italy where I gave a seminar to some Italian professional photographers about my wedding photography.
It was actually my first trip to Italy and it was really enjoyable. The photographers were very friendly and were asking great questions about my style of work and my approach to the business. One thing that was mentioned a lot was the fact the the Italian bride and groom's expectations tend to be different from the couples I tend to work with. It seems that generally the Italian bride and groom want to create a fantasy wedding that shows off their wealth to friends and family, this somewhat seems to be more important than the actual wedding itself.
It got me thinking about my work as a wedding photographer and the type of clients I have. I truly believe in the power of photography and the art of telling a story. It is great to have clients that also believe in the power of the photograph and how it is important to document the reality of their wedding rather than wanting to spend two hours posing in-front of a camera!
