Hong Kong Wedding http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=191&wedding-photographers-in-hong-kong http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=191&wedding-photographers-in-hong-kong Fri, 20 Jan 2012 14:42:00 GMT Posted by Christian

Poppy and I recently enjoyed a fantastic wedding in Hong Kong.

You can see below some of the images from this wedding - my favourite image is of the bride and groom in the car after the ceremony with the groom looking at the bride. You can see in his expression his love for his new wife and the intensity of his feelings. This is everything CKP looks for in our documentary wedding photography - the connection, the emotion, the relationship between two people.

I also like Poppy's two images of the hotel porter signalling for the bride's car and the picture of the bride walking out of the hotel while the groom heads off to the church. Fortunately, neither of them caught sight of each other!

From a photographer's point of view putting yourself in the right place at the right time is a skill that takes many years to develop. Poppy has developed this skill within a short space of time which is testament to our belief that she is a natural-born photographer.

My boys at Christmas http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=189&my-boys-at-christmas http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=189&my-boys-at-christmas Mon, 26 Dec 2011 17:56:00 GMT Posted by Christian

Hope everyone had a great Christmas - we had a great day and took the opportunity for a lovely Christmas walk. Here are a couple of pics of my two young boys during our walk. You can really see the difference in the characters of each of the boys. Can anyone guess which one is the more rebellious one??

The pictures were taken with a Leica M9 and using my 35mm 1.4 lens - which is an absolutely great lens.

Poppy in Hong Kong http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=187&hong-kong-wedding-photographer http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=187&hong-kong-wedding-photographer Fri, 09 Dec 2011 12:45:00 GMT Posted by Christian

It has been quite chaotic in the CKP office and we have lots to post about in the coming weeks with some excellent weddings to showcase. However, I had to stop everything this morning when I saw Poppy's picture from a wedding we have recently completed in Hong Kong. For me it is one of Poppy's strongest images and really made me stop and look.

It is an image of the groom with his mother prior to leaving for the ceremony. I just love the light falling on the mother and how elegant she looks....the groom is taking a few moments to run through his speech. This is a great example of Poppy blending into the background and allowing everyone to act naturally and not worry about the fact that there is a photographer in the room. Great documentary photography skills in my humble opinion..........

Want to book Poppy for your wedding before she becomes a famous wedding photographer do get in touch!!!!!

It has been a particularly busy few weeks, hence the lack of posts recently. We do have some fantastic weddings to post on this blog and will get them posted as soon as possible.

However, the reason for this post was to let you know (if you are interested) that the three workshops we have for next year have all been sold out. We may put on more dates in 2012 subject to demand. Therefore, if you have missed out this time do let me know and we will see what we can do for you.

The CKP Weddings Workshop and Mentorship (UPDATED) http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=172&the-ckp-weddings-workshop http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=172&the-ckp-weddings-workshop Fri, 09 Sep 2011 10:31:00 GMT Posted by Christian

CKP Weddings Workshop

At last the CKP Weddings Workshop has finally launched!

No big fanfare, no waffle, just Christian and a bit of hard work.

This three-day workshop is open to professional and emerging wedding photographers: it's aim is to take the photographer away from the world of weddings and to give them a foundation in documentary photography that will help develop their storytelling skills. You will also have the opportunity to learn how CKP Weddings do things and have grown a business from one wedding in 2005 to over 50 in 2011.

The workshop will take each photographer outside of their comfort zone and challenge them to produce a documentary photography project to then present for critiquing and discussion with Christian and the other attendees.

This workshop will not be easy but the photographer will leave with a greater understanding of the power of photography and how best to use documentary photography within their own wedding photography business. You will also come away with a better knowledge of the industry and what it takes to get to the top in the wedding photography business.

The worksop will run for three days in Jersey, Channel Islands and cover the following;

Day One: 9 a.m start. An introduction to documentary wedding photography and our approach at CKP Weddings, presentation of each of the attending photographers wedding portfolio for discussion, the art of story telling, Q and A's. Lunch and dinner will be provided on this day.

Day Two: 9 a.m start. Your documentary photography project shoot day. Lunch and dinner will be provided.

Day Three: 7 a.m start. Turn around of work and presentation of project for discussion and critiquing, final Q and A's about CKP Weddings, documentary wedding photography. Lunch will be provided with workshop finishing at 4 p.m.

This workshop is limited to three attendees, accommodation in local hotel for three nights is included as well as transportation around the island. There are regular flights to Jersey with British Airways, Flybe, BMI Baby and Easyjet from airports around the UK.

The cost for each attendee is £1500 including all accommodation in local hotel, meals and transportation within Jersey. A non-refundable booking fee of £300 is needed to secure your place on the workshop.

The dates for the workshops in 2012 are 7th -9th February SOLD OUT, 17th-19th April and 23rd-25th October SOLD OUT.

Materials Needed: Camera's, Laptop and ability to process your work. If you have Apple's Aperture programme this would be an advantage, we would highly recommend that you download the free 30 day trial if you do not have it as it is our main way of editing and processing our own work here at CKP Weddings.

We will be operating an early bird booking scheme and if you book your place before the 30th September you will receive a reduction of 10% off the workshop price. Please note that there will only be three places available on each workshop.

CKP Weddings Mentorship

If you would prefer a one to one mentorship of you and your wedding photography business Christian is offering a two day programme specifically tailored to your needs and expectations for your wedding photography business. Please contact us for more information on pricing and availability.

Recent Wedding in Leeds and training http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=184&jewish-wedding-photographer-in-london http://www.ckpblog.com/?postID=184&jewish-wedding-photographer-in-london Thu, 08 Sep 2011 11:58:00 GMT Posted by Christian

Here are some images of a recent wedding I shot in Leeds. As you can see it was pretty chaotic at times during the dancing and I would have been better suited if I had some body armour and a helmet on.

I have two favourite pictures and they tell the brides side of the story and the grooms side of the story with regards to the dancing - the first is of image 13 with the bride and her girlfriends spinning her round quite nice and gently.....followed by the black and white image of the groom and his friends in a huddle. It shows a nice contrast between the ladies and the gents and how they act very differently on the dance floor!!

Training/Mentorship Programme

I will soon be releasing information on my wedding photography training course - if you would like an early heads up send me a message using our contact page and I will let you know what it is all about.

As usual feel free to comment and wedding photographers don't forget the CKP Grant.
